It seemed improbable that she could turn these dirty dusty items into something that anyone would want in their home. I was skeptical but did my due diligence and googled "DIY pallet projects" to find out this was super easy and could turn out awesome.
There are so many neat creative projects you can make with them. I found this particular project on YouTube and I really like that a woman is making it.
Supplies Needed
Reciprocating Saw
Orbital Sander
Sanding discs in 60, 80, and 120 grits
Sanding sponges in 60, 80, and 120 grits
Hammer
Nails
Tack cloth
Wood stain
Clean rag and paint brush to apply stain
Polyurethane (spray on) for a nice finish
Safety glasses and gloves

Remove a board from leftover pallet for the bottom of the shelf
Sand shelf with 60 grit
Wipe shelf with 60 grit sponge to smooth edges
Wipe entire surface with tack cloth
Sand shelf with 80 grit to remove scratches
Sponge shelf with 80 grit to smooth edges
Wipe entire surface with tack cloth
Sand shelf with 120 grit for a smoother finish
Sponge shelf with 120 grit to smooth edges
Wipe entire surface with tack cloth
Attach the bottom board to your shelf
Stain the shelf. Use a brush to get into small cracks
Complete with spray-on polyurethane finish
Who knew it could be so simple? It probably took me longer to write this post!
There may be a few one time expenses for some, but use the sander and saw for other DIY projects. There are many beautiful holiday crafts that you can do yourself with just a saw and sander!
